Shared Services Operations
Shared Services Operations is part of The Chief Operating Office. The COO is responsible for delivering operational processes and redesigning business workflows by efficiently utilizing resources to exceed customer and regulatory requirements. Our mission is to integrate, transform, and strengthen the enterprise through automation, risk mitigation, effective controls, and state-of-the-art technological solutions to operate at an optimal level.
Operations’ goal is to build a more unified, integrated approach to Wells Fargo's business operations functions focused on enhancing our operational excellence, meeting our regulatory remediation efforts, and better serving customers.
Shared Services Operations (SSO) delivers core operational functions to our customers that are common across Wells Fargo, along with transformation capabilities to our employees, utilizing a continuous improvement approach to achieve stronger controls, improved client experiences, and sustained efficiencies. Shared Services Operations includes: Business & Real Estate Services, Financial Crimes & Regulatory Operations, India & Philippines SSO, Operational Excellence, Payments Operations, Payments Transformation, Quality Assurance and Strategy & Transformation.
The Role
The Shared Services Operations Head of Strategy and Transformation will act as a Chief of Staff, Chief Strategist, Business Execution Executive to the Head of Shared Services Operations. The Head of Strategy and Transformation will work closely with Shared Services’ leaders, Human Resources, Control, Risk, and Finance partners to manage and drive efficiency across Shared Services Operations, managing a budget, leading Enterprise wide strategic investments and programs, (e.g. Transformation, efficiencies, automation, location strategy), and support the Head of Shared Services to drive the overall end-to-end strategy for Shared Services Operations, including the identification of transformation opportunities. This leader will work across all Lines of Business and their partners to understand the current operating environment and will develop a multi-year roadmap to centralize functions and create scale. This leader will drive and oversee change that impacts employees globally and serves clients in all five Wells Fargo Lines of Business.
Responsibilities include:
- Create and lead cross-functional teams (Change Management, Location Strategy, Data Analytics, Issue Resolution and Strategic Programs teams) to develop outstanding multi-channel integration experiences and products that generate tangible business results, leveraging talent with multi-dimensional experience from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop and execute a Shared Services Operations target operating model and end-to-end strategy across all sites to best serve the needs of the business.
- Create governance materials as appropriate for the Head of Shared Services Operations in readiness for meetings. Partner closely with the Head of Shared Services Operations to ensure messages are clear and consistent.
- Design and coordinate regular planning sessions for the leadership team and ensure appropriate follow up between planning sessions.
- Implement processes and routines to ensure effective Risk Management and oversight for all Shared Services Operations.
- Create a budget for Shared Services Operations, and the appropriate controls to ensure targets are met. Develop narratives to explain the expense story, and the relationship to challenges faced; manage the investment initiative business case process and tracking/reporting of all investment spend(s).
- Execute changes such as: migration of functions in and out of the global team (location strategy), consolidation of processes to create scale and efficiencies, implementation and tracking of corrective actions arising from control and regulatory reviews.
- Represent Shared Services Operations for all audit and Regulatory exams; act as liaison and oversee regulatory inquiries and responses.
- Build and expand data analytical tools for key product decisions and recommendations; optimize data insights, metrics reporting.
- Build out Strategic Programs and partner with Shared Services Operations leaders to drive program execution and provide additional oversight of strategic programs.
- Chief of Staff/Business Management functions: operational governance routines, Executive presentation preparation, People agenda, financial management, Town Halls, coordination of Operating Committee and senior Wells Fargo requests.
- Ensure appropriate leadership in each location and empower the team to identify and resolve their own strategic resourcing issues.
- Implement a creative and cohesive people strategy, including a focus on training, development, and a transparent promotion process.
- Ensure consistent messaging of priorities is cascaded through the layers of management and to all staff.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and peers.
- Ensure constant and open lines of communication between members of the leadership team, and the COO.
- Partner with Technology, HR & Finance to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives.
- Develop a team to deliver the agreed upon scope of the COO office.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 4+ years of management experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven operations leadership: leading large-scale teams in a highly complex regulatory environment.
- Financial Services experience including understanding of core fundamentals of how large-scale financial institutions operate including an appreciation of varying customer types, products and operating models, technology architecture and data landscape.
- Transformation experience: digital analytics, understanding of technology architecture, ability to design future-proof solutions and experience delivering against multi-year roadmaps.
- Leadership: strong talent management skills with experience building high-performance teams, re-shaping teams and placing high value on diverse skill sets.
- Experience working across International Regions.
- Significant experience interacting and working with senior leaders and regulators.
- Experience building and leading large teams across multiple locations, including managing managers.
- Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization, create a strong collaborative environment, develop partnerships with many business and functional areas across Wells Fargo.
- Effective relationship management and the ability to influence and create an environment that fosters collaboration and credible challenge across multiple levels of the organization.
- Exceptional track record of driving organizational change, developing innovative solutions, and delivering results.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; effective in communication across variety of audiences and constituencies, including executive management.
- Strong record of executing operating model changes, understanding complex processes, and mitigating risk when executing change.
- Demonstrated core competencies in Strategy, Leadership, Business Acumen in Wholesale and Consumer Banking, Risk Management, Change Management, Project Management, Process Improvement, Transformation, and Resiliency Planning.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts so that they are clearly understood in support of sound decisions.
- Superb collaboration skills across multiple levels and functions with demonstrated success through decision making and in gaining alignment.
- Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously in a balanced approach.
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$173,300.00 - $359,900.00
