The Mfg Process Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the regular maintenance of test sets and fixtures used for manufacturing of optoelectronic modules and line cards. The technician will be responsible for performing electrical, optical, and mechanical test set modifications and maintenance on both a scheduled and as needed basis. For repairable test components, the technician is responsible for cataloging and maintaining a supply of working spares for operations. Additionally, Test Set Maintenance duties may include assisting in construction for replicate test facilities, commercial instrument repair, coordinating instrument repairs with a vendor, and millwright activities. The technician will procure and stage materials for upcoming projects and maintenance with Engineering assistance.
Required Skills/ Key Responsibilities
• Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment such as DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies. Optical test equipment experience – OSAs, Optical Power Meters, Wavemeters, etc. is a plus.
• Mechanical skills required to assemble commercial instruments into test cabinets and make mechanical modifications to the cabinet, shelving, and assemblies as necessary.
• Mechanical skills required to assemble test fixtures which can include electro-mechanical assemblies, pneumatic, and heating/cooling assemblies. Ability to make minor adjustments to assure proper performance
• Electrical wiring skills required to wire test cabinets, test fixtures, and various sub-assemblies and cables that compose the test set. Requires ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical schematics and drawings
• Background in PCBA soldering, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Optical fusion splicing, fiber routing, and optical path troubleshooting
• Ability to work on a ladder for maintenance and installations. Some heavy lifting of ~ 50lbs.
• Maintain good and effective communication with management, engineering, and technician peers to continuously improve manufacturing yields and throughput
Education/Experience Requirements
• 4 yr. technical degree or 2 yr. technical degree with 2+ years of electronic troubleshooting experience preferred
• Electrical wiring and PCB soldering/repair experience required
• Electrical and Optical troubleshooting experience required
• Machine fabrication processes (cutting, drilling, bending, etc.) experience desired
• Optical fusion splicing experience desired

• Ability to work in a flexible team environment is essential
• Ability to work independently and self-directed
• Computer skills including Excel spreadsheet experience
